I would like to have your attention on the matter that has arised last year about purchasing products over the internet. In the April 2006 magazine Harpers Bazaar, released an article written by Lucinda Mendel. The article was about counterfeit cosmetics being sold via internet. I have personally have told many of you about this problem, but lately I hear more & more stories of people making purchases over net. That’s why I decided to bring to your attention this matter once again.
The Article amongst other things points out that counterfeit cosmetic products are fake, & “are manufactured in Shanghai & there is a real possibility that whatever lies inside the fake packaging could leave you with a skin or eye irritation or serious allergies”.
In the recent court case the French Cosmetic Association (FCA) won a case against an internet company selling Payot illegally. Payot have stated officially that “we cannot guarantee the authenticity & freshness of the Payot products sold on internet”. They specifically named the Strawberry internet company, which has a site operating out of China.
Our position in Australia is that, “we only guarantee the authenticity of Payot products purchased from a recognised account customer”.
This is the statement that I have received from a manager of Payot Paris.
On my behalf I did research to find out about dangers of post use of fake products. And here what I can say, to develop allergy or skin conditions for some people it takes time, some people react quick. If abnormal reaction occur late, we do wonder where it is coming from & it is difficult to determine, because you might think it is not from cosmetics, because you have been using them for a while. Or you might not even think about it at all, trying to find another source of the problem.

“You may think you are getting a great deal on what looks like Channel 5, but consider this: while there may be a trace of the original scent inside of the bottle, what you assume is fine fragrance is more like Eau de Awful. Lab analysis has shown counterfeit perfumes to be made up of liquid fillers such as vodka, water & even urine (both animal & human), not to mention toxic chemicals”.
“Officials discovered that almost entire Shiseido range has been copied”.”...Sydney warehouse unearth $1 million worth of fake products, all names we love”... “Lancome lipsticks ready to heat market, while the shape looked nothing like the real thing, the brand’s logo was perfectly reproduced”. “ You might assume that purchased goodies on established e-retailers such as eBay or Yahoo that it must be legit, yet both maintain that they are simply marketplaces.”
Big brands, such as SK-II, P&G’s, L’Oreal & many others trying as hard as they can to protect theirs customer from this big problem. But because it is so easy to order from internet, you should really think why places like Clique still sell products. If products from internet would be authentic I personally would get them from there for myself & stop selling here, but I do not, for the reason that I have explained.
